Dedicated to lifelong learning, the Hopkins Evergreen Society was created in 1986 under the auspices of the former School of Continuing Studies (now Carey Business School and School of Education). Now part of the Johns Hopkins Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, Advanced Academic Programs, the Evergreen Society's mission is to enhance the leisure time of semi-retired and retired individuals by providing stimulating learning experiences and the opportunity for new friendships. The Evergreen Society builds on the rich resources of an internationally renowned university to offer members an array of educational and social opportunities, including:
- Access to the university library system
- Use of school microcomputer labs
- Preferred participation in university-sponsored events
- Field trips to cultural events
- Opportunity for membership in the Alumni Association and Hopkins Club
Evergreen Society programs are offered at two convenient locations. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, activities are held in Baltimore at Grace United Methodist Church on North Charles Street. Wednesday's programs are offered at the Columbia Center of Johns Hopkins University in Columbia, Maryland.
